Mikael Granlund from Finland scored an unreal goal against Russia in the IIHF World Championships. Just watch the video.

Derek Boogaard Dies as Age 28

Derek Boogaard was an NHL player who played for the New York Rangers. He was known around the league as one of the toughest players and was a notorious fighter. He was found dead at his home and the cause of death is still unknown. Some believe that it may be related to his concussion he has had all year, causing him to miss many games. Head injuries are a huge topic today and some fear it may have led to his death. While work is still being done to find a cause of death, it is a tragic story that can't be ignored.

Lightning Strike First against Boston

The Boston Bruins and Tampa Bay Lightning began the Eastern Conference Finals last night in Boston. The Bruins were embarrassed on home ice as the Lightning won 5-2. Their high powered offense got 3 goals in a 1 minute and 25 second span in the first period. Tim Thomas was off of his game and the relentless Lightning kept on coming. Tyler Seguin scored a beautiful goal in his playoff debut which was a good sign. The Bruins are in for a very tough series and they need to step it up big time if they want to have any chance of winning.

Sharks Hold off Red Wings in Game 7

The Red Wings forced a game 7 in San Jose after crawling back from trailing 3-0 in the series. The Red Wings had all the momentum heading into the game but fell short in a 3-2 Sharks win. It would have been the 4th time in NHL history that a team down 3-0 won the series. The aging Red Wings put up a good fight in a very exciting game but still didn't have enough. Pavel Datsyuk had an amazing goal late in the game trying to bring his team back. The Sharks move on and play the Canucks tonight in game 1 of the Western Conference Finals.

Tom Wallisch Ski Video

Tom Wallisch is an amazing freestyle skier and he has on of my favorite ski videos out there.

Forrest Gump

I'm going to switch gears quickly and talk about one of my favorite movies, Forrest Gump. Tom Hanks stars as a man who has some mental issues but seems to be involved in all of the major historical events from the 1950s- 1980s. It is a funny movie at some parts and an extremely sad one at others. Tom Hanks plays the role perfectly and all of the supporting cast is great. The Vietnam part is my personal favorite but I also enjoy the running scene and the ping pong scene. It is a classic movie and shouldn't be missed by anyone.

History Will Be Made NHL Ad Campaign

One of the things I enjoy about the playoffs is the ad campaign that goes along with it. There are some great commercials out there. They are unique and make the playoff experience special. I'll post some of my favorites.
